Professor Michelle Alexander is coming to Denver February 22-24, 2011. A civil rights advocate and litigator, Professor Alexander, in her book, The New Jim Crow:  Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, makes a case that racial caste is dangerously alive in America as a result of the harshly unfair workings of our criminal justice system and our abandonment of poor and marginalized young people.  Even more importantly, she challenges us all to consider how concerned and committed citizens might respond to this destructive reality in the lives of our youth.  As such, we are so excited that she is coming to challenge us to help create a new movement that will overcome the evils of “the cradle to jail” syndrome.  We’d like to share with you the activities that will take place during her visit and invite you to attend one of the events.  Professor Alexander and her message have struck a powerful chord in our nation.
