Veterans of Hope


	"Lessons from the Journey" is an effort to organize the material contained within the Veterans’ stories so that broader audiences can understand and apply those lessons to their own times and places. The curriculum provides a variety of entry points into these stories so that the seeds of hope they contain can be planted in new contexts. More>


	Storytelling, ring games, singing and collecting oral histories are some of the grassroots cultural resources that can be used in teaching everything from ecology to compassionate leadership development. Learn more

		Beginning the Journey is a set of activities designed to help participants introduce themselves and build connections to one another.

		Finding a Better Way draws on experiences in the lives of James Lawson and Anne Braden when, in the face of injustice, they found powerful alternative paths away from violence.

		No Enemies helps participants think about how adversaries are defined and why. The lesson suggests ways that we can redefine our relationship to struggles for justice so that individuals and groups are not demonized.

		Extending the Journey helps participants reflect on the discussions they have had about the Veterans' stories and gives them inspiration to apply them to their own lives.
