Hon. Wellington E. Webb (b. 1941) was elected to three terms as mayor of Denver, Colorado. Mayor Webb earlier served as a state legislator and city auditor and was a well-known teacher and community organizer before that. He was the first African American to hold the office of mayor in Denver and was noted for his ability to encourage collaboration among various communities and interest groups in the city. An active AME lay leader, Mayor Webb recognizes an important relationship between his spiritual faith and his political/social calling.
