Achaan Sulak Sivaraksa (b. 1933) is a lay Buddhist teacher and pro-democracy leader in Thailand. His teachings and activism center on the need to embrace alternatives to Western consumerism and to seek indigenous sources of wisdom for personal and societal transformation in Asia. In Thailand he has created several institutions for leadership development and has published widely on resources for social transformation from the cultural and religious resources of Thai Buddhism.
