Rabbi Zalman Schachter Shalomi, Reb Zalman (as the Rabbi was affectionately known, 1924-2014) was a leader in the Jewish Renewal movement and known for his deeply ecumenical, activist and mystical vision of the Jewish faith. For many years he developed the concept of “Sage-ing” as a model for articulating and respecting the experience of elders. He held the Wisdom Chair in Religious Studies at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado before his death.
