Imam Warith Deen Mohammad (1933-2008) was the leader of the Muslim American Society, headquartered in the Chicago area. The Imam was the son of the Honorable Elijah Mohammed, the late founder and leader of the Nation of Islam. As a young man, Imam W. Deen Mohammed was one of the earliest members of The Nation to embrace orthodox Islam, being drawn by the more inclusive message of traditional Muslim teachings.
