Mr. Danny Glover (b. 1946) is a distinguished actor, humanitarian and social activist. A young Danny Glover likely imbibed his taste for political activism from his parents, both of whom were active in the NAACP and other movements to advance equal rights. While studying at San Francisco State College, Glover was a member of the Black Students Union, a group that was instrumental in bringing Ethnic Studies to the college by staging a five-month long student strike. The Ethnic Studies Department at SFSC was the first such academic program at an American university. Glover has maintained a lifetime commitment to social justice including his current work to support the democratic struggles of the people of Haiti and Brazil.
