Daniel Minter is an extraordinarily accomplished and dedicated contemporary American artist. A painter, sculptor, illustrator and art educator his vision connects the symbols and stories of the Black American South with the cultural and ritual traditions of the larger African Diaspora. He has a particular affinity for the ancestral stories; his work often points to the lessons of spirit and power that emerge from the historical struggles of Black people.
Daniel created the “Spirit and Struggle” banner for us (as well as posters, postcards, book covers and other promotional pieces over the years). His work deserves to be much better known and so we honor our long connection with him by sharing some of his magnificent creative production with you! Enjoy.
