Please join us for a Zoom program in honor of our co-founder – historian, teacher, activist, Dr. Vincent Harding – on Thursday, February 25 at 5pm mountain time (7pm eastern). Come and get your spirits lifted! The program is free but requires registration.
The NOAH Collective is a group of young people who were students at Hofstra University in the 1990s and early 2000s. Their teacher, Prof. Frank Smith, used Vincent’s book THERE IS A RIVER every year as a foundational text in the Black/Brown leadership program he directed. Over many years and visits, Vincent developed a strong connection to the NOAH program students and faculty. And the students — now, all grown folks in their 30s and 40s — continue to study Black and Latinx history and to share their insights with a new generation. THERE IS A RIVER was/is an inspirational text for them and they are very generously offering this program in honor of Vincent’s memory.
Special guests include poet Sonia Sanchez and historians Eric Foner and Leonard Jeffries. The NOAH Collective has stories and encouragement for all of us as we navigate our way toward an America that is worthy of our ancestors’ struggles and our best imaginations.
We know that many folks are all “Zoomed-out” these days, but if you have time and energy, please join us.
